Things to Do (in Newcomb)

While the Golf is great in Newcomb, that's not all the Town has to offer.

Families looking for a quiet and safe picnic location will find the Newcomb Town Beach is among the best. Safe, clean, sparkling clear water, trained and certified lifeguards, changing and rest rooms, and a covered pavillion all add up to a wonderful day experience (no charge).

Lake Harris and other bodies of water provide wonderful opportunities for canoeing and kayaking. A local outfitter can get you set up for on-water adventure. Numerous trails meander through quiet forest land. Goodnow Mountain is a moderately difficult climb with the view from the fire tower at the top among the best in the Adirondacks.

Local crafters and business people are ready to help you find the "just right" gift to bring home.

The historic Santanoni Great Camp brings you back to a previous time when wealthy industrialists built Adirondack hide-aways in a grand manner and hosted people like Teddy Roosevelt. Other historic sites include the ghost town of Adirondac and and 1850s blast furnace, hidden in the Tahawus back country. The Town's Scenic Overlook gives a graphical representation of the High Peaks Panorama.

Bed and Breakfasts, Rental Cottages, and Campsites are available to provide the whole family with off-course activities.

The Adirondack Park Visitor Interpretive Center provides information, trails, picnic facilities and comfortable surroundings. Regularly scheduled events and programs enhance the visitor experience, regardless of age.

Plan on staying in Newcomb and taking advantage of all the Town has to offer. Summer or winter, Newcomb can assure fun family action.
